A Personal Statement from Deborah
I am proud and pleased to serve in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Thank you for your help and support. I want to keep making a difference for the residents of Wake County.
As your representative, my priorities are to preserve and create jobs, promote small business, enhance economic security, increase transportation options, create education opportunities, build healthy communities, and protect our neighborhoods.
I have worked on several new laws that help and protect our citizens. I sponsored a comprehensive statewide intermodal transportation law. I pushed through a new law to punish people who overcharge for state contracts. I promoted new laws to protect citizens from foreclosure and debt buying abuses. I sponsored new laws to protect victims of domestic violence and improve our justice system. And, I worked to continue our investments in the North Carolina Housing Trust Fund, historic preservation, and the NC Museum of Natural Sciences Green Square Project.
During these difficult economic times, I worked to balance our budget responsibly, while preserving essential services provided by our teachers and state employees. I also continue to advocate for ethics reforms, women and families, improvements to our mental health system and the future of the Dorothea Dix property. You can look at a list of the bills I sponsored on the legislature’s website at www.ncleg.net.
During this past legislative session, I voted against budget cuts to education and health and human services that take our state backward. I also opposed new laws that hurt and discriminate against our people.
I am fighting hard for you in the General Assembly and will continue putting my experience to work for you.
I run a grassroots re-election campaign. You may have seen me at CAC meetings, state employees’ annual meetings, neighborhood and civic events, and churches. I enjoy meeting people and listening to their concerns because I care about our community. As your Representative, I will continue to be accessible and visible throughout the District.
You can email me at deborah@deborahross.org about issues that matter to you and campaign activities.
Very truly yours,

Deborah K. Ross
